blogging Colorado Rockies baseball…

Win one, lose, one

93 degrees at the start of the game and unfortunately the Rockies havent been quite as hot. The Rockies bats were quiet until the 7th inning when it seemed like the night before they were readying themselves to take control of the game and finish off the Padres, by scoring 3 runs to tie up the game. Only this night the Padres would hold on to win with help from the Rockies bullpen in the 8th by adding 2 more runs of their own.

Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez pitched a pretty good game overall except for a 3 run mistake he offered to Mike Cameron in the first inning of what then looked like it was going to be a long evening for everyone from the players to the ushers to the hot dog vendors on “dollar hot dog night” at Coors Field last night. NOTE: Though the price might be right up your alley, unless you have a stomach of steel should you ever have a dollar hot dog at Coors Field.

The Rockies will play this afternoon and in what I hope will be a rebound of last night’s loss and some momentum as the 2st place Dodgers come into Coors Field tomorrow evening for the start of a 4 game series.

It’s still too early to pay this any amount of attention, but the Rox are sitting at .500, 5 1/2 games out of 1st place and 4 1/2 games from a wild card spot. Unfortunately they are sitting behind some tough teams in San Diego, Atlanta, Chicago, Arizona and Philadelphia. But wouldn’t it be great if they could somehow finish in the top spot for a wildcard if they couldnt win the NL West division?

The Rox need to get on a hot streak starting this afternoon.
