Rockies shutout Dodgers 3-0…

The Rockies did what they needed to do last night to win their second straight game in shutting out the Dodgers 3-0 at Coors Field.

Jhoulys Chacin had a solid outing allowing just 5 hits through 7 innings on 97 pitches. Two of the Rockies 6 hits were solo shots by Troy Tulowitzki in the 4th and Chris Iannetta in the 5th.

Defensively the Rockies were excellent. Key plays by the Rockies infield, Tulo, Lopez, Wigginton & Helton helped the Rockies to nullify the Dodgers attempts at gaining any momentum during the game. And perfect outings by Betancourt and Street in the 8th and 9th innings simply closed the door completely on the Dodgers.

The Rockies will go for the series sweep this afternoon with Jason Hammel (0-0,) on the mound taking on Chad Billingsley (1-0, 4.50). Game time 1:10pm.
