Rockies increase lead over Giants…

The Rockies on Sunday afternoon were in a heavyweight championship-like fight that they were determined not to lose. Down 2-0 early on a Edgar Renteria homerun, the Rockies punched and counterpunched until the Giants had begun to wear down in the 6th. Jimenez threw a hook, striking out 9 and Lincecum jabbed back with 7 of his own. The Rockies with a 1-2-1 combination in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings, opened up the Giants and had them on the ropes. At the end of the fight, the Rockies were cheered in their unanimous decision. Both opponents would live to fight another day. Rematch scheduled for Monday night 6:40 pm.

With the Rockies win they have increased their lead to 3 games over the Giants and at the same time with the Dodgers losing to the Cubs 3-1 last night, the Rockies now sit 3.5 games behind the Dodgers in the NL West.
