Rays, not Rox get 12…
The Tampa Bay Rays got 12 runs last night and stopped the Rockies from getting their 12th win in a row with a 12-4 beatdown of the hottest team in baseball. Of the 5 man starting rotation for the Rockies if there is one pitcher who is almost sure to have a bad outing after a day off it’s Jorge De La Rosa and we saw proof of that last night. Monday’s day off hurt him more than it hurt the team overall. De La Rosa gave up 7 runs in 2.1 innings including 2 homeruns. Those 7 runs only helped to negate any efforts the team managed in coming from behind, not to mention the other 5 runs scored by the Rays.
Tonight the Rockies look to get back in the win column and maybe begin a new winning streak. Aaron Cook (5-3) takes the hill and despite the power in the Rays lineup, the results will certainly be different than last night. Rays are on a 6 game win streak and hope to extend it to seven by sending David Price (1-0) to the mound.
The pressure of breaking the team record is off after last night’s loss. I expect that the Rockies will rebound tonight and not let this send the team in a downward spiral over the next few games.
