Rays(34-31) @ Rockies(31-32) Preview…
The AL Champion Tampa Bay Rays come into Coors Field on a 5 game winning streak. The Rockies themselves are on an 11 game winning streak, so tomorrow night one teams streak will be broken. Now granted 3 of the 5 game winning streak for Tampa came against the Nationals, so that doesn’t say alot. The Rays currently sit in third place in the AL East, five games behind the division leading Red Sox.
The Rockies are 5-1 against the Rays at Coors Field and 0-3 against them at Tropicana Field. The Rays last visited Coors Field in 2007 and the Rockies took 2 out of 3 in the series.
Both teams posess tremendous talent, with the Rays have a slight edge in that department overall with Upton, Longoria, Crawford, Pena and Burrell. Keeping Crawford and Upton (60 stolen bases combined) off the bases is a major concern for the Rockies, just as keeping Fowler off will be for the Rays. Will Helton and Hawpe be able to match the big bats of Pena and Longoria? Will Rockies pitching remain solid and continue to dominate opponents? This should be an entertaining series to watch.
