Game 20 Recap, Padres 5 @ Rockies 7

Way to go Aaron Cook! Cook gets his first win on the season shutting out the Padres through six innings before leaving in the 7th after having given up 3 runs. The bullpen almost blows the lead, before Huston Street shuts down the side in the 9th for his 2nd save on the season.

What went right? Aaron Cook was in top form until the 7th inning giving up 2 homeruns, but was unstoppable in the first six innings. Helton went 2 for 3 with a homerun and 3 RBIs. Iannetta and Tulo both went 2 for 4, though not totally breaking out of their slumps, they are headed in the right direction. Iannetta had 3 RBIs also in the game. If they can continue to hit during the next series against the Giants, then we can consider the slump over. Rockies were 43% in RISP versus the Padres 0%. Huston Street gets the save and possibly reclaiming the closer role.

What went wrong? Belisle’s 2 runs he surrendered in the 8th closed the Rockies lead to just 2.

Inside the Humidor game MVP is Aaron Cook.

Of the seven series played so far this season the Rockies have won 2, lost 4, and split 1 series with the Cubs. Rockies have the day off today and will face the Giants on Friday at AT&T Park.
