Game 8 Recap, Rockies @ Cubs

Jason Marquis wins his second game on the young season and against his old team yesterday afternoon. Marquis went 7 innings striking out 3 and drove in 2 RBIs going 1 for 3 at the plate. It also looks right now that Huston Street hasn’t settled in yet as the closer for the Rockies. Street gave up two hits, one a homerun to Cubs first baseman Derek Lee. The Rockies move back to .500 with Grilli getting the save. So brings the question of who will Hurdle rely on to close out games in the near future. Street has the experience and Corpas is doing fine in a setup role as well as Grilli.

What went right? The Rockies bats return pounding out 9 hits and 5 runs after going scoreless over the last 17 innings before scoring in the second inning. Jason Marquis moves to 2-0 with an ERA under 2.00.

What went wrong? Iannetta continues to struggle going 0 for 2 yesterday and currently batting .059.

The Rockies move on to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers on Friday for a 3 game series.
