Happenings 4/2…

In game score from Tucson Electric Park, the Rockies are ahead 5-4 in the 7th inning in their final game in Tucson today. They have two exhibitions in Las Vegas before starting the season in Arizona on Monday against the Diamondbacks.

It looks like Huston Street will get the nod as the closer for the Rockies. I believe you can’t go wrong with either Street or Corpas as the closer and it’s good to that kind of problem on a team. I just hope they’re both going to be up to the challenge and will provide the team with solid outings that result in wins. Part of me still wishes Brian Fuentes were still here, but that ship has long sailed.

Troy Renck is reporting the Rockies are still going after Jason Hammel of the Tampa Rays and not so much Cubs pitcher Chad Gaudin. According to the Tampa Tribune’s Marc Lancaster (story here), Jason Hammel will pitch in minor league camp on Sunday instead of traveling with the Rays to Philadelphia this weekend.
