Fuentes an Angel…

Brian Fuentes’ free agent saga is finally over. Fuentes signs a 2 year deal with the Los Angeles Angels. According to espn.com the contract is for 17 million, (8.5 million this season and 9 million in 2010) a bit lesser than the 10 million a year Fuentes and his agent were reported asking for. And far less than the 12-13 million a year Francisco Rodriguez got from the Mets. There is a club option for 2011 of around 9 million.

In other familiar news. It looks like the Rockies have resigned former infielder Luis Gonzalez to a minor league deal. Gonzalez last played for the Rockies during the 2004 and 2006 seasons. It’s too bad the Rockies couldn’t have resigned him before last season after losing Kaz Matsui in the offseason.

The Rockies will face their old closer in a visit to Anaheim June 22nd-24th for interleague play. But first look at the Angels will come for them in spring training on February 27th and again on March 2nd.
