News and notes 7/23…

What a difference 24 hours makes. Let’s see. The Rox won yesterday against the D’backs and took the series 2 games to 1.

Todd Helton hits the game winning homerun and also gets his 5ooth double of his career. Congratulations Todd.

Manny Corpus may be out until September if not the remainder of the season, to have surgery to remove bone chips from his throwing arm.

Rockies pitching prospect Jhoulys Chacin gets the call up from the Double A Tulsa Drillers to the majors according to the Denver Post. Chacin is expected to come in and bolster the bullpen.

Ken Rosenthal of Foxpsorts.com reports that the Rockies are in talks to get Betancourt from the Indians.

UPDATE: The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper has confirmed that Rafael Betancourt has been traded to the Rockies for prospect Connor Graham. I like this move by the Rox but if you thought the games were long before, apparently games at Coors Field will be a little longer now according to Indians fans. Comments here from the Cleveland Plain Dealer article.
